The choir has been a feature of Wicklow life since 1998 when a meeting of interested fellows was called for the Grand Hotel. Current chair Eamonn Sheridan was one of those in attendance and a scattering of the originals remain throughout the ranks. Thirty-three men turned up for that original meeting in the Grand Hotel and they were marshalled under the baton of Mary Kavanagh. However, she soon vacated the musical directorship in favour of composer Bernard Geary, who filled the role with notable musical precision for close to two decades.
Tony Norton took over the directorship in 2017. His expertise in vocal techniques has brought the choir to new levels.
